The Peter Jones Foundation

The Peter Jones Foundation was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur and star of Dragons’ Den, Peter Jones CBE. It supports young people to reach their entrepreneurial potential

The Foundation believes that all young people deserve a brighter future and aims to help them reach their potential through a range of pioneering educational activities and initiatives which champion and celebrate entrepreneurship.

The Foundation’s aims are to:

EDUCATE - Achieve a transformational change in the quality and accessibility of enterprising and entrepreneurial skills, education and learning available in the UK. This involves working with leading educational bodies and providers across the country.
ENCOURAGE - Excite all budding entrepreneurs across the nation, through a range of national campaigns, to follow their business dreams and encourage a culture of enterprise and entrepreneurship in Britain.
SUPPORT - Provide effective support to young people across the UK who are at various stages of their lives or in many different circumstances and in a variety of ways.

GEW Events hosted by

  Tycoon in Schools

Launched by the Peter Jones Foundation in July 2012, Tycoon in Schools is a free national enterprise competition, which aims to encourage the nation’s budding entrepreneurs to get involved in business by giving them a start-up loan to run a business at school. Across the UK student entrepreneurs have spent the summer polishing business plans for personal review by Peter Jones.

On October 31st, in the run up to Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Trading Phase kicks off and we will be following all the action live @tycooninschools. Student teams have until Deceember to sell, trade and build their businesses.

Teams will receive their startup  pack to support them with trading, including lapel badges and pens. You can  follow the race through the live leaderboard based on sales figures, to help fuel the excitement across the nation.

The finalists for Tycoon in Schools will be announced in February/March 2017 and invited to attend an awards ceremony, with Peter Jones CBE. In previous years the ceremony has been hosted at Buckingham Palace. The winners of the competition will be announced at the ceremony and presented with their prize of £1000, to be invested in their business.
